The real reason Federers game is so easy on his body is not just because of his stupendous talent. Its because of his ability AND willingness to place shots out of his opponents reach at EVERY opportunity he gets. Of course, thats declining faster than I can write this, nevertheless thats the key to his effortless play year after year. 
So why cant other players emulate that, when it should be obvious to anyone with eyes and any semblance of a brain?
The real reason is a poor work ethic. While everyone may not have the same talent pool as Federer, the gap can be bridged significantly IF enough work  time is spent on the court. Every freaking cucumber knows that, irrespective of what endeavor you are engaged in.
You see, when you practice so hard that the racket actually feels like an extension of your hand, you can hit the ball at any corner of the court with about the same accuracy you can get with your bare hand - maybe better. Thats the only way to get there. If you are not there, its because you have not spent enough time with the racket hitting the ball from every possible angle.
Its virtually impossible to not get there, if you have completed the number of repetitions your individual talent reserve requires.
Just saying that Federer has more talent doesnt absolve you. Why? Because there are millions of talented individuals who are nowhere near the top of their field AND there are millions of talent deprived clowns who are at the top because of their work ethic.
You have so many examples amongst the tennis greats themselves like Connors, Lendl, Sampras etc. They would lose hands down against Federers talent, but their extreme desire to not lose, drove them to work that much harder to narrow the gap to even the playing field.
How about Nadal? You think he works hard? You bet!!!! Harder than anyone else on the tour? Sure. Harder than Federer? Absolutely. He has to, for he does not have that gift of talent.
When the ball is sent like a bullet to your backhand and your opponent rushes to the net, you know if you are allowed to throw the ball back with your hand you can easily pass the clown. But if you have put in the work, you can effortlessly and consistently do what Federer does: Flick that ball just next to the net out of reach of your opponent.
You think that shot stems from pure talent? Are you freaking kidding me!!!! That has been rehearsed and practiced to death on the court a million times before its even attempted on the big stage. Yes, a million times.
The ball machine is set to hit Federer all day on his backhand and he just keeps flicking until it becomes second nature. Then he does not even have to think before executing it to perfection. Its on auto pilot. Like you lazy freaks driving your Pinto across the freeway with eyes closed.
You think Roddick practices as hard as Federer or Nadal? Not even close. You cannot have that brand of tennis flowing from your racket if the time on court even remotely resembles that of Federer or Nadal.
You have heard my famous quote? Havent you? s no short cut to success. Theres no elevator, or Success is one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.
The reason all these jokers send the ball back to the center of the court, even when the ball lands in their wheelhouse is because nothing else has been practiced long enough to instill confidence in the shot. So the only option is to just try to get the ball back and hope the other guy makes a mistake.
Why does that theory gain credence? Its because that actually happens - the other guy does make that mistake and they end up winning the match. So they say to themselves Hey, I won the match and reached the semis or the finals without killing myself on the practice courts. This is pretty good.
Only a handful of clowns are not satisfied with that, and invest that extra hour every day to win on their terms. Result: Every one starts calling them geniuses.
Genius is nothing else than outworking everyone in sight. Thats the foundation. Without it no matter what top notch material you add to the building, its coming down sooner or later.
If you dont pay your dues, life will not allow you to get too far with the accolades and the hardware. But once you pay the dues, life will crown you with credentials you did not even attempt to bag.

ok, i lied a little.

THIS is my favorite show of the season, every season.
Lanvin, since alber elbaz took over,

he rethought how men dress. he took the feeling of casual dressing,
mixed in really luxe fabrics, and recut the silhouettes on everything.

he believes in the high with the low,
but makes BOTH extremely thoughtfully.

it is no secret that i am addicted to their trainers. addicted in a way that goes beyond rational thought and enters the realm of "the only shoes i really ever need". which is the first time i have ever said that. but more on that later . . .

not since jil did her original men's lines have i bought pieces (a few few few pieces. they make even me choke at the price.) have things suddenly . . . gone with everything. without thought.

since this line is my new obsession, of sorts, spring was at first a little off-putting.

Sos move on to more strategies I learned from that Las Vegas seminar taught by self-made millionaires.
1. Burning desire and personal motivation. Whether you want to achieve overall career success or small business success, you must have a burning desire for whatever it is you want to achieve. Because there will be too many roadblocks and detours along your path. And unless youre fueled by passion, its too easy to experience overwhelm, lose focus and just plain give up. I love coffee (as I write this Im sitting outside Starbucks!) but as I do more and more of the work I enjoy, i.e., recording CDs and writing an e-book, my need for caffeine has diminished. Im fueled by passion, purpose and helping others. Its easy for me to work late into the night. Of course, its also easier when you have a dog and no small children. You get the point. Ask yourself, if you won $50 million in the lottery, what would you do for work even 10 hours per week. Assume youve already traveled everywhere and bought everything you could want.
2. Hire a motivation or success coach. One of the main reasons businesses fail is lack of planning and lack of focus. Another reason is procrastination. Procrastination is the result of fear. If youre having difficulty getting started, hire a motivation coach to push you past the pain of procrastination and into facing your fears. The investment can cost money in the short term but be well worth it once you start seeing results. Every one of the self-made millionaires this past weekend said early on in their career they hired a success team of coaches, tutors, accountants, attorneys and others who could assist them. The message was dont try to do everything on your own. You will feel overwhelmed, procrastinate and fail. So where do you find the finances to hire these experts?
3. Offload your stuff. Get rid of the things and frivolous expenses that are holding you back. Many self-made millionaires advise this. If youre objecting to hiring a team of experts because you dont know where the money will come fromwhat can you sell? Many people have items they want to get rid of but arent sure how to post these items with online websites like EBay or Craigs List. Enlist the help of a friend or expert in this area. Find a way fast to get rid of your credit card debt if you have any. The percentage of Americans with debt is shocking.
4. Your comfort zone is your money zone. This is a clich?, but feel the fear and do it anyway. Be willing to be terrified. To make it easier, find out where you are weakest and grow in those areas. Surround yourself with positive supportive people whove achieved professional success. People who can advise you on how to overcome your obstacles.
5. Take action. Goals are nothing without action. Write your success goals down. Make them specific, measurable and realistic. Keep them in your wallet. Write affirmations for your goals. Tape them to your bathroom and living room mirror, bulletin board and refrigerator. Look at them daily. Tape positive affirmations and play them in your car upon arising in the morning, and just before going to bed. Your subconscious mind is most amenable to suggestion first thing in the morning and last thing before going to bed. One gentleman at the conference went from being $90,000 in debt (which he paid off) to earning hundreds of thousands a year with this technique. Bombard yourself with positive messages until you believe them.
The main thing to do is get started. Do something. Do anything that will bring you closer to the personal and professional success you desire. These proven techniques will work for you in achieving greater happiness and fulfillment in any area of your life - if you apply them. Read the right books. Spend the majority of your time with people more successful than you. Hire a success team of experts. Learn the new skills you will have to learn in order to make your dream happen. To stretch into a new money zone, remember you must stretch out of your comfort zone.

A few weeks ago, I told you about my date with my daughter Gina. Last night it was my eight year old son, David's, turn.

He had literally been talking about our date for a week and was so excited to just be going out with his daddy. Of course, this made me feel great and I was really looking forward to some one on one time with my son.

As soon I picked him, he started talking...and talking...and talking. And he didn't stop talking for the entire three hours we were together. He spoke of many things, Club Penguin, why he isn't into superheros any more, the newest Wii game and the ill fated lemonade stand he and his sister had the previous week. (More about this later.)

We went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner (it's both of our favorite food.). When we walked in, we were "greeted" by a woman who had a big scowl on her face and muttered, "This is to go, right?"

"Um, no. We are eating here," I reply.

I don't think this answer made her very happy. She escorted us to our table and then walked away without saying a word..

David already knew what he wanted, a scallion pancake (also known as "Chinese pizza") and tofu with vegetables.

Our waitress arrived at the table and lo and behold, she too had a scowl on her face too. (I started to think that maybe it was something the waitress and the hosted both ate and wanted to make sure I didn't order that.)

Contrast that with another Chinese restaurant David, Gina and I went to the day before for Dim Sum. When we arrived, the owner greeted us with a big smile and hello. The waitress, also very enthusiastically, greeted us and commented on how "beautiful your daughter is" and how "well behaved your son is."

During the meal, all of the servers were super friendly (we were the only, non-Chinese folks in the restaurant - which is always a tip off that you are going to have great meal) and the owner came by our table, smiling, asking us is everything was okay and did we need anything.

The food at both restaurants was good, (although the Dim Sum restaurant was great) but which place do you think left me with a better feeling? At which restaurant did I have a better "experience"? The answer is obvious and the question you need to ask yourself is what experience are your customers having when they buy from you.

Remember, you can have the finest product or service on the planet but if your receptionist isn't pleasant, it does not matter.

Anyway, David tells me about his lemonade stand experience. He and his sister made great lemonade, the had tattoos they were going to sell and even set up a little face painting stand. There table was set up at the top of their driveway and they were ready for business!


And they waited and waited and waited in the hot sun. Soon they discovered the problem almost all new business owners have...lack of leads or, using an Internet term they did not have any "traffic."

My kids had fallen into the trap of "build a great business and the customers will come." As I've said zillions of times, that's not just the way it works. Having a great product is not enough. You need to let people know about your product. That is why...

It's more important to be a master marketer than it is to be a master of your craft. (The combination of the two is deadly and virtually guarantees success.)

David and I finished our meal. I drove to my apartment and he. talked and talked and talked.

When we arrived, we immediately started in on our favorite activity, mixed martial arts fighting on my bed. The kid is tough and hits like a ton of bricks. I have a huge bruise on my arm today to prove it.

It was an epic battle but I can't tell you much about it because "What happens in 'Fight Club' stays in fight club." (Big lesson for entrepreneurs. Keep your mouth shut about what you're doing in your business. Your competitors are listening.) I can tell you that he ended up winning the championship, three rounds to two.

After the fight, we were both sweaty and tired and decided we need a break. He got a Nestle Crunch bar (his favorite candy and definitely the food of champions) and we lied on my bed and watched "Sponge Bob" which, by the way, is very funny. Of course, even Sponge Bob didn't stop him from chatting away.

As we both laid on the bed holding hands, I said a brief thank you prayer, for yet another perfect date with one of my kids

And was reminder of what I am really working for.

I went to the mall today. I got Panauh a pair of shoes. There was a girl with a mohawk and different color hair who helped us. I think she wanted to taste my kelbasa. Panauh said, "You like that hair?" I said, "Yeah, it's cool." Then we went to the Apple Store. I bought my dad a pair of headphones, where the iShuffle gets inserted inside. "Do you think he'll use it?" Panauh asked. "I don't know," I said. I really wanted a cigarette. I wasn't feeling well. Panauh wanted to go out to eat. He said he would buy me lunch because I bought him shoes. "With those shoes you look like you could kill someone," I said. "What?" he said. "You are so gangster," I said. He laughed. He took me to this restaurant called Champps. I ordered fish and chips. I ate one of the two pieces of fish. Panauh ate the other. Then we were about to leave the mall when I saw a Godiva chocolate store. "Wait!" I said. I went into the store. "Do you have chocolate covered pretzels?" I asked. "Yes," a girl said, "look on the second shelf." I looked. There was dark and milk chocolate. "She probably likes milk chocolate," Panauh said. "But the can for dark chocolate looks prettier," I said. "Okay, man," Panauh said. "I am going to get the dark chocolate," I said. Then I bought it and we left the mall.

When I got home, I saw that your flowers for my dad arrived. I picked them up and put them on the kitchen table. Then I went downstairs. I wanted a cigarette. That's why I started playing a tennis video game. Panauh came after I played for about a half hour. He wanted to play me. He started beating me very badly. I didn't feel like playing anymore. I went upstairs. My stomach was hurting. "I'm gaining weight," I thought. "My stomach won't get better if I gain weight." I could feel my stomach burning. "I can't eat out," I thought. I laid down on my bed. I turned onto my left side. I fell asleep. When I woke up, my dad was home. I went downstairs. I wrote this. Then you called me on iChat. "You want some?" you asked, and showed me a half of your uneaten chestnut.

AUG 5 Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will win the Permatang Pauh by-election by a mile. And Pakatan Rakyat could end up snaring more seats if snap elections were held soon.
This scenario is not far-fetched judging by findings of a recent survey which debunks the notion that there is widespread remorse bias among Malaysians for supporting the Opposition in Election 2008.
Indeed, the poll shows that the sentiment towards Pakatan Rakyat has strengthened since March 8, especially among Chinese and Indians voters. The comprehensive survey on political developments in the country saw more than 3,000 people being interviewed last month.
Just over 31 per cent of those polled said that their view of the Opposition has remained the same since March 8 while 36.7 per cent said that their view of the Opposition has improved.
Only 22 per cent of respondents gave the Opposition the thumbs down. The Malaysian Insider sighted the poll findings which confirm that the seismic shift in the political landscape was not a flash in the pan but the result of deep dissatisfaction with the Barisan Nasional and the path the country was taking. Also, it shows a country that has become even more polarised along political, racial and religious lines since the general election.
On March 8, the Opposition alliance of Pas-PKR-DAP denied Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and the ruling coalition its customary two-thirds majority in Parliament and took control of Perak, Kedah, Penang and Selangor. This outcome surprised political pundits who believed that it was a fluke, the unintended consequence of Malaysians wanting to register a protest vote.
In the months since then newspapers have carried reports based on anecdotal evidence to suggest that Malaysians have little confidence in the Opposition and were regretting their decision to vote for Pakatan Rakyat candidates on March 8. In a column in the New Straits Times, group editor Syed Nadzri put forward five reasons why Anwar could lose the by-election in Permatang Pauh. He listed reason No. 5 as voter sentiment.
It cannot be denied that the ground has shifted much since March 8 with a change in state government and, with that, political leaning. It cannot be denied too that some of the policy changes instituted by the DAP-led Penang administration have not gone down well with at least some of the 58,449 registered voters in Permatang Pauh, 69.4 per cent of whom are Malays, 24.5 per cent Chinese and 5.7 per cent Indians.
BN is expected to capitalise on this to the core.
Clearly, the survey on political developments in Malaysia shows that the non-Malay support for the Opposition is intact and may have strengthened since Election 2008. More than 45 per cent of Chinese polled said their view of the Opposition has improved while 33.9 per cent said the perception has remained the same. Only 8 per cent said that their view of Opposition has deteriorated.
The pattern was the same with the Indians. Just under 5 per cent of Indians said that their opinion of the Opposition had suffered since March 8.
Fifty-five per cent of Malays felt that their opinion of the Opposition was the same or had improved since Election 2008. With this sentiment, Anwar will be the overwhelming favourite to return to Parliament, regardless of who the BN fields in Permatang Pauh.
For he will be preaching to a larger pool of believers Malaysians.

Anyways, while I was listening to it I went on your page, Well your comments. your girls. OverOver. But this time, I didnt get upset. I smiled, because Im finally moving on. I smiled tears came out... Of Joy I Guess? It just makes me tear up that, im breathing without you HOLYSHIT I am so happy. Secretly, that song. If you change, when you change. I want you to dedicate that song to me. I know, you probably never will. Never find this blog. Never change. But, i do still have hope that you do. For yourself, because I still care even if im trying to let go of everything you mean to me. Okay, wait no. Every bad thing you did to me. Thats what Im trying to let go. Im trying to not hold on look at the past. The present is what im trying to get through. Day by day. Slowly, To not think so negative. Although im taking tiny steps, it isnt so baby steps. Maybe steps a five year old would take. Not to small, but small enough(: I am totally done with this. With you... for now.

But, you know, I've got to keep everything in perspective. I still don't go to his website. I think if I went to his website, I would be consumed with him, and I wouldn't get any work done at all.

A long time ago, I think I decided that it wasn't a good idea to dwell on that that isn't "yours."

I guess it's a way to protect myself. I've learned that with age.

But, I always quote Jim Carrey, quoting someone else:

"The truly brave among us walk the earth with broken hearts"

I love that quote.

I love it, because it validates me. It makes me feel better about falling in love like a fool and then having my heart smashed to a million pieces, then I sweep it up, glue it together and do it all over again.

But, I can't call this "love"...not just yet.

Right now, it is lust.

Hard core, animal and primal.

Sex.

I think about Super Sexy, and I'm just really curious about him. More than anyone I've met in a long time.

Ok, if I had a choice between some millionaire and Super Sexy...

I would choose Super Sexy.

If someone laid out a few million dollars in cash, right in front of me and asked me to choose between the money or Super Sexy...

He probably wouldn't say the same thing about me. But, that's ok.

But, really, what would I buy with the money? What is the money going to do for me?

A person only needs so much to survive and be happy...and I'm not the kind of person (woman) who's really into jewelry or clothes.

I might use it to travel...but that would only be a way where I could meet people and have experiences.

There's something to be said about travelling on the cheap. Meeting regular people who work, and struggle every day to live.

Ok, so I don't value money as much as other people.

What do I value? What do I value that is mine?

My creative work. My writing. My paintings. My ideas. Things that are intangible.

Seriously...I find myself spending money on music. CDs.

I have to have music in my car all the time. I have to have music playing in my apartment as soon as I get home. Something in the background.

I'm not buying shoes like a Good Single Girl probably should. Fuck shoes. Shoes are fucking boring. Buy three nice pairs, you know? You're good to go.

... unless it has a specific, sentimental meaning, jewelry is a waste of money. I only wear jewelry if someone gave it to me. Only if it has meaning to me.

But the most insignificant things have meaning to me. I hold on to slips of paper, little drawings that other people do. I'm notoriously sentimental.

Super Sexy drew the Circle of 5ths in my little note book, but he only went half way. I finished the rest of it, plugging in the rest of the sharps as they occur.

I'm sitting there, like a dope, comparing our handwriting.

His "G"s are different than mine. The little G-stem, he turns his in, I turn mine out. I like to write in ALL CAPS, he uses lower case letters and caps as they are appropriate. His "E" is so clean and straight forward. I write my "E"s as though they are covered in spider webs.

But, we did go to grammar school on different continents. His first language (I'm assuming) was Russian. He probably learned to write English later and developed different habits.

...but the thing that gets me the most, is how he wrote "of"

His "of" is very artistically written. The way he curves his "f" says so much, I think. I think he's really sensitive.

I close my eyes, I remember him using my lap as a desk as he wrote. I was holding a folder on my lap, and he was using that, but still...I wanted him there.

I think he did that to test me. To see if I would push him away.

No way. Never. I would never push you away if you wanted me.

(deep breath)

But, I'm thinking too much about him. I miss him. I wish I could be closer to him, so I could know him. I want to know him. I want to know him as a man.

This article discusses some practical techniques that ESL/EFL teachers can use in teaching effective academic presentation skills. It is suggested that macro organization, micro organization, thesis and support, strategies to involve the audience, response to audience input, non-verbal communication, use of visual materials, and pacing should be taught explicitly to the students.
Introduction
Being able to present oneself precisely and concisely is a key to success in one’s course of study. In what follows, I suggest some practical tips on academic presentation skills that are easy to use in teaching your ESL/EFL students.
Macro Organization
The first step is teaching macro organization. The organization of an academic presentation should consist of purpose, objectives, outline, introduction, and conclusion. The purpose is a statement that suggests the general goal of the presentation. The objectives are the specific goals that you want to achieve by the end of a presentation. The outline refers to the different parts, sections or components in your presentation. As regards the introduction, you may teach your students to start off with a word origin, an interesting question, a definition of a term, an analogy, or even a personal experience. Concerning the conclusion, no new information should be introduced to this part; the conclusion only summarizes the key points of your talk. You can begin the conclusion using the phrases such as in a nutshell, the bottom line is…, what it boils down to is … or other similiar phrases.
